Vorig jaar groeide The Herds uit tot een wereldwijd fenomeen. In 2025 legden de levensgrote dierenpoppen een indrukwekkende tocht van ruim 20.000 kilometer af – van Kinshasa tot de Noordpool – om aandacht te vragen voor de urgente gevolgen van klimaatverandering.
Het grensverleggende kunstproject, bedacht en geregisseerd door auteur en regisseur Amir Nizar Zuabi, is een samenwerking tussen The Walk Productions (bekend van Little Amal) en de Ukwanda Puppet Company. In elke stad komt The Herds opnieuw tot leven in samenwerking met lokale kunstenaars.
Voor de Rotterdamse editie bundelt Zuabi zijn krachten met choreograaf Jordy Dik van DIK Danstheater. Samen ontwikkelen zij een dansinterventie waarin performers van Compagnie Tiuri, gastdansers uit Singapore en dans- en muziekstudenten van Codarts de ontmoeting met de kudde op poëtische wijze vormgeven.
Op ICAF (International Community Arts Festival) ontwikkelt DIK Danstheater een muzikale choreografie die speciaal voor deze gelegenheid wordt gecreëerd:

Last year, The Herds grew into a global phenomenon. In 2025, the life-sized animal puppets travelled an extraordinary journey of more than 20,000 kilometres – from Kinshasa to the Arctic – drawing attention to the urgent consequences of climate change.
The groundbreaking art project, conceived and directed by author and director Amir Nizar Zuabi, is a collaboration between The Walk Productions (known for Little Amal) and the Ukwanda Puppet Company. In every city, The Herds comes to life again through collaborations with local artists.
For the Rotterdam edition, Zuabi joins forces with choreographer Jordy Dik of DIK Danstheater. Together they are developing a dance intervention in which performers from Compagnie Tiuri, guest dancers from Singapore, and dance and music students from Codarts poetically shape the encounter with the herd.
On ICAF (International Community Arts Festival), DIK Danstheater will create a musical choreography especially for this occasion:
