DIK Danstheater brings RELATIONS (LIVE) to ICAF Hub Singapore 2025

This June (2025), DIK Danstheater will travel to Singapore to take part in the first ever ICAF Hub Singapore, a new international community arts festival developed by ICAF (The Netherlands) and Drama Box (Singapore). As part of the programme, DIK Danstheater will lead a masterclass in their innovative “Relational Choreography” method, followed by a performance of Relations (Live).
ICAF (International Community Arts Festival) is a globally recognized platform that celebrates socially engaged art from all over the world. Known for its triennial festival in Rotterdam, ICAF now expands internationally with the launch of its first Hub in Singapore in partnership with Drama Box, a pioneering theatre company committed to inspiring dialogue, reflection and change through the arts.
At ICAF Hub Singapore, DIK Danstheater’s team consisting of artistic director and choreographer Jordy Dik, associate artistic director and choreographer Loura van Krimpen, head of music Vincent Dankelman and musician Sjaak van Dam will introduce participants to Relational Choreography. Developed over the past five years, this method invites participants to create movement from authentic impulses using the principle of call and response to build connection, creativity and collective strength. The focus is on improvisation, spontaneity and relational meaning, making dance accessible to all regardless of background or experience.
The masterclass will culminate in a performance of Relations (Live), a piece that has already touched audiences in Rotterdam (ICAF 2023) and Romania (REACTIV performing arts laboratory, June 2023). Created through real-time collaboration between performers and audiences, Relations exemplifies the power of inclusion, creativity and human connection through dance.
As DIK Danstheater continues to bring their unique inclusive artistry to international audiences, their participation in ICAF Hub Singapore marks a new step in building global bridges through community-based dance.

DIK Danstheater presenteert RELATIONS (LIVE) tijdens ICAF Hub Singapore 2025
Dit juni (2025) reist DIK Danstheater af naar Singapore om deel te nemen aan de allereerste ICAF Hub Singapore, een nieuw internationaal community arts festival ontwikkeld door ICAF (Nederland) en Drama Box (Singapore). Als onderdeel van het programma geeft DIK Danstheater een masterclass in hun innovatieve methode “Relational Choreography”, gevolgd door een voorstelling van Relations (Live).
ICAF (International Community Arts Festival) is een wereldwijd erkend platform dat sociaal geëngageerde kunst uit alle hoeken van de wereld viert. Bekend van het driedjaarlijkse festival in Rotterdam, breidt ICAF zich nu internationaal uit met de lancering van de eerste Hub in Singapore, in samenwerking met Drama Box, een baanbrekend theatergezelschap dat zich inzet om via kunst gesprekken, reflectie en verandering te stimuleren.
Bij ICAF Hub Singapore zal het team van DIK Danstheater – bestaande uit artistiek leider en choreograaf Jordy Dik, associate artistic director en choreograaf Loura van Krimpen, hoofd muziek Vincent Dankelman en muzikant Sjaak van Dam – de deelnemers kennis laten maken met Relational Choreography. Deze methode, ontwikkeld in de afgelopen vijf jaar, nodigt deelnemers uit om beweging te creëren vanuit authentieke impulsen, gebruikmakend van het principe van call and response om verbinding, creativiteit en collectieve kracht op te bouwen. De focus ligt op improvisatie, spontaniteit en relationele betekenis, waardoor dans toegankelijk wordt voor iedereen, ongeacht achtergrond of ervaring.
De masterclass wordt afgesloten met een voorstelling van Relations (Live), een stuk dat eerder al het publiek wist te raken in Rotterdam (ICAF 2023) en Roemenië (REACTIV performing arts laboratory, juni 2023). Relations is ontstaan uit een realtime samenwerking tussen performers en publiek en laat de kracht van inclusie, creativiteit en menselijke verbinding door middel van dans zien.
Terwijl DIK Danstheater hun unieke inclusieve kunstvorm internationaal blijft delen, markeert hun deelname aan ICAF Hub Singapore een nieuwe stap in het bouwen van wereldwijde bruggen via community-based dance.
