DIK Danstheater brings people together from diverse communities: refugees, elderly people, those with disabilities, dance students, and more, creating art that fosters a deep sense of belonging and connection. Our work bridges differences, offering inclusive spaces where every story and experience can be seen and celebrated.
Crossing Birds Ter Apel was a three-day dance and music project by Jordy Dik and his creative team, in collaboration with Stichting De Vrolijkheid. Taking place at the refugee center in Ter Apel, the project brought unaccompanied minors—young people who arrived alone seeking asylum—into a space of expression and connection. Around 50 participants joined in to explore self-expression and community through art. We extend our thanks to everyone who participated with heart and spirit, bringing faces to stories often unseen.
In March 2023, Relations (Live) was performed and created at ICAF Rotterdam, uniting (compagnie) Tiuri, Codarts, and ICAF in a collaborative, inclusive choreography. Relational Choreography empowers performers to explore creativity, autonomy, and connection in the moment. This approach allows dance to be created spontaneously with any group, using impulse-driven movements that unfold into meaningful stories and relationships on stage. Relations (Live) was an instant choreography created with the performers and the audience present.

In April 2022, a dance workshop took place at the Parzival School in Aachen as part of the HUMAN project by Helge Burggrabe. The students spent a week developing a choreography, which they performed for an audience at the end of the week under the title Diese Welt ist such unsere which translated to This World is Ours Too.
Since the workshop week in April 2022, we have returned to the school annually to create new choreographies and deepen our relationship with the students. Next year, several children from the school will join us in a collaborative project with the Schritt_macher festival.
